Dhaka University Hepatitis Screening & Awareness Campaign 2008

Liver Foundation of Bangladesh arranged Dhaka University Awareness and free Screening programme on August 20,2008. A seminar was held at Teacher Student Auditorium (TSC) of the University campus .

Prof. Dr. SMA Faiz, Honorable vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka attended the seminar as chief guest. Prof. SN Samad Choudhury, Chairman of Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, chaired the seminar. A video documentary on Liver Foundation was shown to the distinguished audience. The seminar started with Telawat e Quran by Dr. Mohsin Kabir. Prof Anisur Rahman gave the welcome address. The key note speech was given by Prof. Mohammad Ali. He highlighted the different aspects of Hepatitis B & C globally and in Bangladesh. The activities of LFB and its various plans. He hopes that about 32,000 students and 1500 teachers and their families will be benefited by this awareness programme. One thousand students will be screened for Hepatis B & C .This will aware themselves and will take vaccine and other measures, so that they will not get infected by these viruses. Those Positive will have the opportunity to diagnose their disease early and will be ambled to get the appropriate treatment. Prof. AQM Mohsen narrated the different mode of spread and prevention of Hepatitis B & Hepatis C in our country. Special guests were Prof. SAR Choudhury of GSK Bangladesh &Ltd. He presented a brief account of Hepatitis B vaccine and its role of HBV prevention. Mr. Sunwarur Rohman of Roche Bangladesh also attended as special guest . He appreciated the activities of Liver Foundation of Bangladesh and expressed willingness to continue the support of its awareness programme. Prof Dr. SMA Faiz expressed thanks to the authorities of Liver Foundation of Bangladesh for coming forward with its humanitarian efforts for launching the awareness programme and free screening of Hepatitis B & C for Dhaka University students. It will be of great help for our thousands of students, who are the future respectable nationals of Bangladesh. He expressed best wishes for LFB and hope its activities will be propagated throughout Bangladesh.

Prof. SN Samad Choudhury expressed thanks to the authorities of DU for cooperating with LFB for the whole programme. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Md Golam Azam , He thanked GSK and Roche , Bangladesh for supporting the programme and Poular Pharmaceuticals for multi media support.

Prof. Dr. SMA Faiz inaugurated the free Screening programme for 1000 students of the University.
