World Hepatitis Day 2024 in Bangladesh

National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh observed the World Hepatitis Day 2024 in Bangladesh on July 28,2020. Events were made adjusting the massive student protests, violence, unrest and weeklong national wide shut down.

On World Hepatitis Day 2024, the National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh launched Hepatitis Awareness Campaign as “Barber Shop & Beauty Parlour It’s #TimeforAction” in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This initiative aims to enhance awareness and knowledge about viral hepatitis among the barber and beauty parlour communities.

The campaign is designed to educate barbers, beauty professionals, and their clients about the risks of viral hepatitis, particularly Hepatitis B and C, which can be transmitted through unsterilized instruments. The goal is to promote safer practices in barber shops and beauty parlours, reducing the spread of the disease.

Hon’ble President of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Government of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and President of World Hepatitis Alliance gave special messages for the official Souvenir of World Hepatitis Day 2024 in Bangladesh. All the Messages supported the theme of WHD2024 “It’s time for action” as proper & meaningful. They pronounced that, the goal is to eliminate hepatitis worldwide by 2030; which is realistic and achievable with all our combined efforts. In addition to the government, private individuals, organizations and institutions should come forward to control viral hepatitis in the country.

A special WHD 2024 television program on aired at ATN Bangla on 28 July 2024. This programme attended by Professor Mohammad Ali, Professor M Anisur Rahman, Prof. Faruque Ahmed, Director, Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital and Former Secretary General, Bangladesh Gastroenterology Society and Professor Md. Shahinul Alam, Chairman, Department of Hepatology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and General Secretary, Hepatology Society, Dhaka, Bangladesh

There was television program in Ekhon TV also.
